W3C Semantic Tour: Event in
Brussels
24 June 2003
(See elsewhere for the proceedings)
(This page will be updated regularly.)
General information
On 24 June 2003 a W3C event will take place in
Brussels organised
by the Benelux W3C Office in the context of the
"W3C Semantic
Tour".
A similar one-day event will also take place in other European cities
on different dates.
The subject of these events is "WWW the Semantic Web". The Web
is an application built on top of the Internet and, as such, has
inherited its fundamental design principles. Along with evolution (accomodate
future technologies) and decentralization (eliminate dependencies),
This concept of "Semantic Web" closely relates to the mission of
W3C, that produces and publishes on XML based "Recommendations" ("standards",
specifications) for further Web evolution. XML for instance was a
"Recommendation", that originated from W3C in 1998.
Today the current and future WWW without XML would be unthinkable.
